We are now in the heart of the mountains and the true purpose of our trip unfolds. We have 2 local guides who are leading us through the mountains along the ancient pilgrim paths.
It is a true joy to be here amongst the trees. The first walk was more a climb of 1100 metres straight up. Really glad we did so much pre work or I would not have made it.
It was only a 4 km walk today but as it was vertical it felt like more.
Our hotel is on the river with an Onsen on the river which we will use tomorrow.
Our dinner was sublime and we all dressed in the day kimonos the hotel provided. Our room is a traditional one with low chairs, a futon and views to die for.
Feel blessed beyond measure to experienced this.
