I wish you could see me right now - sitting at a kitchen table with three young people working on a project. Music playing , soft talking and people working out on the verandah. The most stunning learning environment I think I have ever been in. We have had a long day - hours of classroom instruction, two outdoor practicals and a 7 am human movement session disguised as judo but, our energy levels are high and happy.
Highlights Reel
1. Today I learned to make compost from a master composter. The science and detail is quite something and he assured us we were learning about cutting edge composting. The amount of money he makes from selling his plants and fruits would indicate that he really is good at what he does. He makes it into a tea and then sprays his plants and the nutrient value is off the scale.
2. We learned to construct and then constructed a swale - a ditch on a contour. I can't remember when last I had such fun outdoors. Barefoot, walking in the mud and learning.
3. There is so much to learn about food and nutrition and permaculture I am sure my brain will be full by the end of the course.
